Technology Description
Dendritic cells express various Fcγ receptors (FcγRs), which mediate internalization of antigen-antibody complexes and regulate immune responses. Targeting of antigen to dendritic cells via FcγRs potentially constitutes an effective strategy for modulation of antigen-specific immune responses. Formyl peptide receptor-like inhibitory protein (FLIPr), secreted by Staphylococcus aureus, can bind to various Fcγ receptors. We demonstrate that antigen-FLIPr fusion proteins can guide antigens to FcγR and induce potent immune responses. These findings support that FLIPr is a potent antigen delivery vector to augment antigen-specific responses. This strategy can be applied to other vaccine development.
We expect this technology to be used in the development of new and better vaccines, especially for the unment medical need disease areas.
